Heavy medium cyclone
Heavy medium cyclone comes with some incomparable advantages, such as, simple structure, water conservation, high efficiency and separation accuracy. It uses low-density weighting admixture, which is very cheap. Meanwhile, it must be noted that the heavy medium cyclone has a better accuracy than any other separator. However, the rate of wearing is a little higher. When operating a heavy medium cyclone, the maximum size of particles can be increased to 35mm, and the minimum size is 0.5mm. To avoid blockage in the discharge gate, a proper size of mineral particles ranges from 2mm to 20mm.
Nowadays, heavy medium cyclone has single-cone type and double-cone type. The top of single cone type looks like a cylinder, and the bottom looks like a taper. While both the top and bottom of double-cone type look like a taper. Low-density weighting admixture can be adoptable when operating a double-cone type, so that it can expand the selection range of weighting admixture.
Cone heavy medium separator
Cone heavy medium separator is a separation tool that ores can naturally sink in the cone-shaped tank full of dense medium. Light minerals pour from the overflow gate, while heavy minerals are discharged by compressed air. Cone heavy medium separator has two types: single-cone type and double-cone type. The latter is able to separate more purifier products than the form, however, the quality of its light products may be not very well.
Cone heavy medium separator comes with advantage of deep tank, wide separation range, steady performance, high accuracy. However, it has its disadvantage, too, Sometimes, the floatation medium may segregate into several layers, leading to some middle-size products gathering at the bottom. So it is not fit for separating ores, of which density is close to that of the suspending liquid. Medium of high circulation needs to use fine weighting admixture, so the system of medium preparation and purification increases more burden than normal.

The former include heavy medium shaking trough, heavy medium vortex separator , and heavy medium cyclone. The latter include drum-shaped separator, cone separator, pyramid separator, shallow box separator, cylinder-shaped separator etc. Common advantages of heavy medium separators include wide separation range of ores, large capacity, high adaptability, accurate separation and low cost.
